About YWAM Harbour City
Where it all began.
The first YWAM outreach team came in 1979. It was a group of passionate 18-year-olds receiving God’s heart for the Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong.
The group of YWAMers waited for an open door to serve at the refugee camps. Eventually, the UN (United Nations) gave them the task of cleaning toilets used by thousands of people. Weeks went by, and they served with all their heart, no matter how challenging it was. After this, the UN began to trust the team and they gave them the chance to serve and minister to the refugees. This is how YWAM first came to Hong Kong.
Youth with a Mission Hong Kong was
established during the 1980s.
Welcoming the first teams from other
YWAM bases to Hong Kong.
Far East Evangelism Teams (FEET) started to help youth go into the nations and share the gospel through dance and drama.
YWAM Hong Kong then moved to the village of Shui Tau Tsuen. The base continued training programs such as SOFM (School of Frontier Missions), FEET (Far East Evangelism Team), Christmas Outreach, and Discipleship Training Schools. Many different ministries started in YWAM Hong Kong – Sons and Daughters, Sports Services International (SSI) and more!
